On song Nyakeya eager to sting Posta

Cliff Nyakeya is ready to crown his season in style when we face Posta Rangers in our final Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match ot be played at the Camp Toyoyo grounds on Saturday.

Nyakeya, 22, has had a break out campaign this year after being restricted to a janitorial role at the club in his first year in the topflight in 2016. His resurgence has seen him cement his place in the first eleven in the process scoring three goals and claiming twice as many assists.

His latest goal was a crucial winner against Muhoroni Youth last weekend which steered us to safety ahead of the much anticipated Match Day 34. He reckons that his exploits have been a product of hard work as well as commitment.


“It has been a good season to me because I have played more games than last season. I have been working very hard in training and also listening to advice from the experienced players in the team like Wise (George Owino) and (Levis) Opiyo. It has worked well for me so far,” said Nyakeya.

Having proven his mettle at the big stage, the former Gor Mahia youth player is keen to continue his brilliant form against the mailmen today afternoon.


“It was a wonderful feeling to score such an important goal for the team (against Muhoroni Youth) because we really needed to win that game to remain in the league. Now that we are not under any pressure it is easy for us to plan for the Posta game.

“I hope to get a goal or an assist in that game,” added Nyakeya.
