Mwaura Out To Slay Sofapaka

Daniel Mwuara prepares to launch an attack during the Round 3 Kenyan Premier League match against Ulinzi Stars at the Afraha Stadium on Saturday 17 February.

Daniel Mwaura is looking to open his account this season against Sofapaka when we welcome them at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday for the Round Four Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash.

Mwaura, who struggled with an ankle injury in the second leg of the past campaign, has had a turn-around in fortunes in the new season having played a key role in the 2-1 win over Nzoia Sugar as well as the barren draw against Ulinzi Stars where he got his first start of the season.

“It was very tough for me when I was out injured but I have really worked hard in preseason. I thank God that I recovered in good time. I am grateful to the coach because it’s not always easy to get a chance in the first team when you are just from injury. He has shown a lot of faith in me,” reflected Mwaura.

With one assist to his name, Mwaura has maintained his reputation as an attacking threat down the flanks. By adding goals to his game, he is optimistic that he will turn into the perfect Swiss knife.

“I am in good shape and my confidence is growing with every passing game. I want to score this weekend and help the team maintain its unbeaten run. Even if I don’t score I just want to continue helping the team win. That's what is important,” he underlined.

Having started the season on a high, the 25 year old is confident that we can challenge for silverware this season.

“I am one of the longest serving players in the team and I think this season we have what it takes to win at least one trophy. If we maintain this momentum then nothing is impossible,” assessed Mwaura.
