Kimanzi Rues Missed Chances In Derby

Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi follows proceedings from the bench during the Slum Derby.

Mathare United head coach Francis Kimanzi believes he should have picked maximum points in the Slum Derby if his side took their chances.

Clifford Alwanga netted his seventh goal of the season to open the scoring in the 20th minute before Patilla Omotto restored parity in the 54th to secure a point for Kariobangi Sharks.

A bright start from his charges should have yielded more goals but in the end it was only Alwanga who found the net in the first half. While expressing his disappointment at the shared spoils, Kimanzi insists they should have done better.

Bounce back

“You can’t say it is a fair result. If you create a lot of chances and you don’t score the opponent can always bounce back. I think we had enough chances to kill the game,” assessed Kimanzi.

Worthy opponent

“What we got is worth the effort we put in training but if we could have gotten the maximum points it would have been better. At times you drop points but you have to acknowledge the quality of the opponent,” he added.

The draw leaves Mathare United third level on 25 points with second placed Ulinzi Stars who have a superior goal difference.
