Kimanzi named January coach of the month
Head coach Francis Kimanzi was on Friday named the SJAK/Fidelity Insurance January coach of the month at the Goan Institute grounds.
Kimanzi, who has now clinched the award three times, registered four wins and two draws in the six matches played in January.
Mathare United were held by Gor Mahia (1-1) and Kariobangi Sharks (0-0) while they beat Kakamega Homeboyz (3-2), Vihiga United (3-1), KCB (2-1) and Tusker (2-1).
“It’s something special because it shows we have been doing a good job. It has taken a lot of sacrifice from the players, the technical staff and the management to achieve this.
“Every time we tend to prepare our team to behave in a unique way on the pitch and that it involves a lot of work here on the training ground. I am happy to see that they have responded well and their behavior even when trailing has been unique. That’s why results have been going our way,” said Kimanzi.
He becomes the second coach to win the award this season after Western Stima's Paul Ogai clinched the December gong.
