Kimani: No holding back against Ulinzi

Mathare United midfielder Kevin Kimani (right) controls the ball under pressure during their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match against Nzoia Sugar at Bukhungu Stadium on December 15, 2018.

Kevin Kimani is confident of continuing his bright start to his second stint at the club on Saturday when Mathare United host Ulinzi Stars at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Kimani, who joined from Sofapaka in the current window, has cemented his place on the right side of attack where he has already provided two assists in the last two matches.

“The players and coaches have made it easy for me to settle in, the style of play is also familiar so it’s not a very new environment. I also worked a lot on my fitness so when I joined the rest of the team for preseason I was not badly off,” revealed Kimani.

Big performance

While he admits that Ulinzi will be tough customers, he is optimistic of guiding the team to a third win on the trot with yet another all-round display.

“I've got a lot of respect for Ulinzi because they’ll always give you a good game. They are worthy opponents but we have a good team that can pull a big performance.

“We have worked well as a team in the last two matches and I believe if we put our heads down together we can keep another clean sheet and pick maximum points,” he added.

It was put to him that he is yet to open his account but he is not losing sleep over it.

“If I get a chance I’ll certainly pull one for myself and the team. The most important thing is to keep helping the team to win and ensure my statistics remain on the right channel,” reiterated Kimani.
