Alwanga slays Otenga in Kisumu

Mathare United striker Clifford Alwanga celebrates after scoring the winner during their Kenyan Premier League match against Kisumu All Stars at Moi Stadium, Kisumu on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Mathare United won 2-1.

Two goals in the space of three second half minutes were enough to grant Mathare United their first away win of the season against Kisumu All Stars on Saturday at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

The lads rallied from a goal down to beat the newly promoted side 2-1 in the Round Six league encounter.

Goals from Kevin Kimani (69) and Clifford Alwanga (72) rendered Gershon Arabe’s deflected shot just a minute after the restart a mere consolation.

Alwanga, who scored with a sublime volley from the edge of the area, was also the provider for Kimani’s leveler. The duo now lead our scorers charts with two goals each.

The win, which is also our second of the season, lifts us up four places to seventh with 10 points.
