Alwanga Seeks Redemption From Zoo

Clifford Alwanga celebrates his first goal against Zoo in the 3-1 win in the first leg match played at the Camp Toyoyo grounds on Saturday, June 2 , 2018.

Clifford Alwanga is eager to halt his eight match goal drought when Mathare United visits the Kericho Green Stadium to take on Zoo in a Round 28 league match.

Alwanga, who starred for the club in the first leg, has endured a torrid two months that has him lose his scoring touch in the process missing two penalties against Vihiga United and Nakumatt.

Despite his recent slump he is confident that he will find the net against Zoo; a side that he stung twice in the 3-1 win at the Camp Toyoyo on June 2.

“I think I have just been unlucky because I have been doing everything right apart from scoring. Facing a side that I have scored against gives me confidence,” began Alwanga who is the club top scorer with 10 goals.

His struggles in front of goal have not only been felt on the pitch but also on the training ground where the taps have also dried. Having turned a leaf in training this week, he is looking forward to Sunday with renewed hope.

Assist or score

“I watched their match against Tusker (where they lost 1-0) and I believe I will score or provide an assist against them. I have also had a good week in training and hopefully I can carry that to the game,” assert Alwanga.
